* What were your favorite discoveries or exercises on this learning journey?

I liked seeing everyone get acquainted with new technologies. Some people really got keen on blogging especially.

* How has this program assisted or affected your lifelong learning goals?

I’ve used most of the tools discussed for quite a while. It’s inspiring to see others learn about them, but I’m not sure it’ll effect my already autodidactic tendencies much.

* Were there any take-aways or unexpected outcomes from this program that surprised you?

People claiming to be complete technophobes learning and enjoying new technologies. We’ve created a new legion on bloggers, chatters, and Google Earthers.

* What could we do differently to improve upon this program’s format or concept?

Er…greater automation of progress record keeping?

Okay, I’m not a gamer. Computerized games hold absolutely no fascination for me. Unless they’re really, really stupid. Like this one. Pretty dumb, huh?

The haps in online apps June 19, 2008

My taste in online apps runs toward the creative and the useful. I like Splashup image editing software (kind of a mini online Photoshop). I also like TransWeb (not what it sounds like) for making transparent gifs. Then there’s Tiny URL, which is completely indispensable.

Yeah, I know. I should bust out and use a different search engine, but really…why? Google never fails me (and my interests are often obscure and specific). I love its clean interface, its lack of in-your-face advertising, and its April Fool’s jokes. It’s one-stop shopping (so to speak).

I’ve been using Overdrive at home since Sno-Isle started offering it, though I haven’t used it a ton. I hate most books on tape and the music selection isn’t really my cuppa…until now. The addition of titles from the Nettwerk label has me downloading stuff like crazy. Erin McKeown? The Be Good Tanyas? Hem? Kinky? MC 900 Ft. Jesus? Sah-WEET!!!
